Together with sister label ‘Synesthezia Records’, 2015 sees the launch of another new Madrid-based label featuring some of the most exciting talent either side of the continent. The debut ‘Synesthezia Bass EP’ features a booming selection of deep, intricate, percussive and melodic drum & bass tracks that will give every listener an insight into the true musical diversity that can be found in the current scene.
First up on the EP sees a release from the highly talented Oxford/Madrid based GDS. Once again showing his versatility, ‘Zero Conditional’ opens with a soundscape of lush contemplative keys, strings and delayed vocals slowly drawing us to the drop where the mood changes completely. The tune explodes into life with a tearing, ever evolving bassline, riding over a crunchy breakdriven beat.
Taking it one step deeper ‘Staying power’ is a bass driven percussive masterpiece. Ever changing choppy drum edits, growly stabs and haunting vocals draw you in from the start, and then the sub bass kicks in grabbing you at the throat. True wizardry from an artist you are definitely going to have to look out for in the Lovely returns for the third track on the EP together with production partner Adaman. Crisp and punchy tech step beats together with melancholic percussion hits feature throughout this killer cut and the warping sub heavy bassline truly rattles your chest majestically taking the track to the next level whilst keeping you engaged all the way.
The final track flips the script completely. True to the ethos of the new label, here we see GDS and Synesthezia Sound System come up trumps with a delightful slice of summertime liquid with a remix of a beautiful track by the highly acclaimed Message To Bears. Beautiful guitar licks, ethereal pads and the sublime vocals of Jerome Alexander finish off this debut EP in superb fashion.
